The present study was an attempt to know the effect of ceria content on ceria-titania mixed oxide towards its adsorption behavior for removal of phosphate from aqueous solution. XRD spectra indicates that a anatase phase appear for Ti-Ce-10 and Ti-Ce-20 samples. However occurrence of broad peaks for the samples Ti-Ce-30, Ti-Ce-40 and Ti-Ce-50 indicates that higher is the percentage of Ceria less is the mixing of cerium in the anatase crystal lattice. Pore size distribution study indicated the mesoporous nature of the material. The adsorption studies were carried out with respect to the effect of pH, initial phosphate concentration, amount of adsorbent and in the presence of competitive anions. Phosphate uptake was seen to increase with increasing amount of adsorbent and pH and attains maximum at pH 5.0 whereas it decreases with increasing concentration of phosphate solution.
