Angle resolving techniques in photionization experiments allow to measure anisotropy parameters, which are directly connected with the respective transition matrix elements. Introducing a new experimental method the anisotropy parameters of autoionizing states Ca* * 3p54s3d4p 1D2 for decay to the ionic ground state are determined with high accuracy. This method depends on the presence of an alignment in the laser excited intermediate state prior to excitation of the autoionizing resonances by synchrotron radiation. The final goal is to obtain enough information for a complete analysis in terms of relative phases and amplitudes.
