The paper illustrates the development of a modified hydrothermal process to fabricate sodium titanate nanowire from high purity nano anatase and rutile mineral precursors. In the process, sodium hydroxide and titanium precursor materials are first fused to produce a complex that is more easily leacheable to the sodium hydroxide solution. Both precursors produce sodium titanate nanowire of different morphology. The high purity nano anatase precursor produces a hollow wire with the mechanism of fabrication which may be due to the curling of sodium titanate sheet. While the nano wire produced from rutile mineral has a dense structure in which the mechanism of the fabrication method may include swelling and peeling.
