An electro-optical design was developed as the impulse spectrometer to identify the composition of the binary Cu–Zn alloys. The acoustic emission(AE) of Cu–Zn alloys was investigated using the Michelson interferometer as the detector.AE signals were detected from the impulse method with a one-dimensional simplified model. It is reported that the Cu component percentage in the family of the Cu–Zn alloys could be related to the bandwidth of frequency spectrum. Therefore, their composition can be recognized by observing the AEinformation in dynamics.
