Toneburst-evoked auditory brainstem response in a leopard seal, Hydrurga leptonyx
(Color online) ABR waveforms across a range of intensity levels (dB peSPL) in the (A) right ear and (B) left ear in response to 4 kHz 2-1-2 tonebursts. Wave V is labeled. There was electrical interference when testing the left ear at 72 and 82 dB peSPL, and hence, it is not possible to determine whether wave V was present at these levels. In the right ear wave V is present at levels down to 82 dB peSPL (note repeatability of the waveform) and absent at 72 dB peSPL. The voltage scale is 100 nV per division and the time scale ranges from 0 to 15 ms post-stimulus. SPLs range from approximately 72 to 122 dB peSPL.
Wave V latencies (milliseconds) and amplitudes (nanovolts) in left and right ears at each stimulus level. Cells marked with * indicate conditions that were not tested. NR indicates no response and CND indicates that the response could not be determined as there was electrical interference for this test condition.
