Available cues for contour segregation. In the top left panel, only timing cues are available. In the top right panel, timing and pitch cues are available. In the bottom left panel, timing and timbre cues are available. In the bottom right panel, timing, pitch and timbre cues are available. In these examples, the target was rising (with 3 semitone spacing and A3 root note). The masker was flat with the same or different timing (simultaneous, overlapping, or sequential), pitch (A3 or A5) or timbre (piano or organ) as the target.
