What Is Scitation?

Scitation is a leading online publishing platform for science and technology content, serving a broad customer base with a wide array of features and services.

  • We host over two million articles in fields that include physics, chemistry geosciences, engineering, acoustics and more.
  • Scitation is home to more than 30 scholarly publishers
  • Our wide variety of content includes hundreds of journals, thousands of conference proceedings, as well as ebooks, standards, patents, databases, and magazines

Scitation’s C3 platform is now setting the standard for the future of STM publishing.  C3 was built on an XML infrastructure that turns granular markup structures into meaningful content services. C3 is reducing discovery and reading time by exposing content components in the XML.  The C3 infrastructure dynamically connects similar concepts and exposes related content without user interaction allowing researchers to save time.

Visually engaging renderings turn traditional publication home pages into dynamic content hubs that actively engage users.  A full-text HTML rendering includes special features like: figure and table tools with context browsing, inline search and reference links, dynamic search widget, and paragraph level bookmarking and commenting.  The journal pages automatically detect a mobile device and redirect to a mobile edition which eliminates elements that can make navigation cumbersome.

Scitation eBooks Platform establishes a strong foundation for the eBook programs of scholarly publishers and offers a high degree of flexibility and extensibility for future growth.  The eBooks platform supports both subscription and pay-per-view access and the ability to cross-search and access journals, proceedings, and books on a single site.

Who are we?

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit membership corporation created for the purpose of promoting the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics and its application to human welfare. It is the mission of the Institute to serve the sciences of physics and astronomy by serving its member societies, by serving individual scientists, and by serving students and the general public.  As a "society of societies," AIP supports ten Member Societies and provides a spectrum of services and programs devoted to advancing the science and profession of physics. A pioneer in digital publishing, AIP is also one of the world's largest publishers of physics journals and produces the publications of more than 25 scientific and engineering societies through its New York-based publishing division.
