We investigate the influence of spatial disorder introduced into parameters of a system on the oscillator death in this system within the framework of a model in the form of an array of diffusively coupled limit-cycle oscillators with regular smooth trend of natural frequencies. We have revealed that the disorder introduced in the form of random deviations from a linear frequency trend may significantly influence oscillator death and increase intensity of the oscillations substantially. The dependence of oscillation energy on maximal amplitude of the deviations from a regular trend has a resonant-like shape. ©2000 American Institute of Physics.
