Information theory of open fragmenting systems
An information theory description of finite systems explicitly evolving in time is presented. We impose a MaxEnt variational principle on the Shannon entropy at a given time while the constraints are ...

Probing two-particle source and densities in heavy-ion collisions
Deuteron-alpha correlation functions are studied in Xe+Au collisions at E/A=50 MeV in order to extract emission densities. The influence of collective motion on the correlation function and on the sou...

The equation of state (EoS) of nuclear matter (NM) is an important ingredient for studies of physical phenomena in nuclear physics and astrophysics. Accurate determination of the NM incompressibility coefficient, K, which is directly related to the curvature of the EoS, allows us to better determine the EoS near saturation. We present the current status of determining the value of K from experimental data on compression modes in nuclei. ©2007 American Institute of Physics
