The solution of the Schrödinger equation for the potential V(r)=V/(µr)4 and all angular momenta is given in terms of known functions, namely, the solutions to the modified Mathieu equation with complex parameters and complex argument. Scattering solutions for both attractive and repulsive potentials are given and in the latter case the explicit expression for the S matrix is given.

The reader is cautioned that various passages in this book are incorrect, for example, Secs. 6.20 and 12.30 do not state the regions of validity of the expressions contained therein (these expressions are completely invalid for certain regions). Similarly parts 12 and 15 of the Additional Results are completely wrong. In all cases the correct expressions are found in Ref. 11.
