About the AIP iResearch application

Get iResearch now!
Platform: mac icon (only)

The iResearch application is compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch devices running software verison 3.0 and higher.

iResearch is an offline e-reader that enables users to save PDF files locally to their device and view them offline without a Wifi or cellular connection. Users navigate through the journals, the volumes and issues to select an article they wish to read. A user will be automatically logged in with their institutional IP Address if they are online within a qualifying address range, or he/she can enter their username/password to obtain access. When the PDF has been loaded to the device the user can select to save the file locally onto the iPhone/iPod touch. Once the PDF is saved locally the user can read the article off-line.

How do I get the iResearch application?

Go to the iTunes store on your local computer using the iTunes program or click on the "App Store" on your Apple device. Enter "iResearch" into the search box and install the application.

Or, click here to access iResearch via the iTunes store from your iTunes program on your local system.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Does iResearch require an Internet connection?
A: Yes and No. iResearch requires a Wifi or cellular connection when you access the journals for the first time and to download any PDF articles. Once the articles are in the "My Articles" screen, they can be accessed without an Internet connection. Any new journals, issues, volumes or content that is available, or content that you did not previously access will not be available without an Internet connection. iResearch caches only the content you have previously accessed and the PDF files you have saved.

Q: Is iResearch best viewed in landscape mode?
A: YES, the application is designed for landscape mode. We have enabled both modes for flexibility. Landscape mode is better to view the Tables of Contents with long titles and the PDF is much more readable in landscape mode.

Q: I saved a PDF and when I went to the "My Articles" screen and selected it I got an error?
A: You clicked the "Save Locally" button before the PDF was fully downloaded to your device, or you didn't log in. This happens when the application saves the PDF and does not have the credentials for the PDF in order to save it. Wait until you see the full PDF before clicking "Save Locally". We are looking into a change in the program to disable the "Save Locally" button until the entire valid PDF has been downloaded.

Q: Why does the screen appear and then sometimes re-draw?
A: This happens because there is new content on the server and the application is re-painting the screen in order to show you the most up to date content available. The application downloads the new content in background and displays it to you if it has changed. We do this to give you both quick application response and the newest data possible.

Q: What do the buttons at the bottom do? Do they change in landscape mode?
A: We have created context sensitive buttons at the bottom of the application in order to bring the user to the online version of the page they are currently viewing. We have done this because the online version is more active and has all the other features that we provide to our online customers. We add more buttons in landscape mode.
