Color Printing
Color illustrations in The Journal of Chemical Physics will be published free of charge to the authors if the Journal's
editors deem the use of color to be essential. Color is "essential" if its use (compared to monochrome) allows the author to
present a significant amount of additional, important information to the reader, or if it makes it significantly easier for the
reader to interpret and understand the important information in the figure.
For all other color figures, fixed rates will be applied, with these being $650 for the first color figure and $325 for each
additional color figure. If color has been deemed essential for at least one figure in an article, the authors will be charged
$325 for each color figure deemed nonessential. For multipart figures, a single charge will apply only if all parts are submitted
as a single piece of artwork.
Authors are required to sign an acknowledgment of color charges prior to publication of an article where color charges apply,
and, when ordering reprints with color, authors will be charged an additional $50 per color page per 100 reprints.
Direct inquiries concerning color printing to the Editor's Office.
