About HFSP Publishing
HFSP Publishing (HFSPP) is a not-for-profit organization that has been established to publish the HFSP Journal.
HFSPP was initiated by the Board of Trustees of the Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO). This international funding agency has been supporting innovative research at the frontier of biology through its grants and fellowships since its establishment in 1989. The decision to support the launch of a new journal was made to enhance the scientific impact of the Human Frontier Science Program beyond HFSPO's funding activities, to promote understanding amongst a broad readership from diverse scientific backgrounds and to facilitate communication and the exchange of ideas and discoveries within the interdisciplinary scientific community. HFSPP is supported by a refundable loan from HFSPO during the launch of the HFSP Journal.
HFSPP is managed by its own Board of Management, which is responsible for overall policy concerning the conduct and operation of the HFSP Journal. The HFSPP Board is chaired by Mark Bisby (retired from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Ottawa) and also includes Martin Blume (retired from the American Physical Society/Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island, NY), Pierre Magistretti (Brain Mind Institute, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne), Beatrice Renault (New York Academy of Science), Joachim Seelig (Biocenter, University of Basel), Torsten Wiesel (former Secretary General of the Human Frontier Science Program Organization) and Doug Yarrow (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Swindon, UK). Joachim Seelig is the treasurer of HFSPP and Doug Yarrow is the secretary.
An Editorial Advisory Council consisting of a group of outstanding scientists provides HFSPP with scientific support and advice: Jean-Marie Lehn (Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg), John Hopfield (Princeton University), Linda Buck (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Seattle), Mitsuhiro Yanagida (Kyoto University), Glauco P. Tocchini-Valentini (Italian National Research Center, Monterotondo) and Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker (Secretary General of HFSPO, Chair of the Editorial Advisory Council).
HFSPP outsources its production, online hosting, printing and subscription fulfillment services to the American Institute of Physics, its public relations and communication services to the Publishing Communication Group and the peer review platform for the HFSP Journal to Aries.
